TACO THURSDAY AT LITTLE PLATES
I love Little Plates Bar in Wadebridge. It’s refreshingly authentic, and reminds me of being in San Sebastián, without the language barrier.
It’s where we head for a quick bite to eat on a rare evening when the children are away and the fridge is empty. You can nibble on tapas, or linger over wine and lots of little plates; if we intend to go for the former, we inevitably end up staying for the latter.
The usual menu is fabulous, full of tapas, pinchos, mezze and cicchetti, plus a specials board. Thursdays has recently seen the arrival of “Tacos Thursday”, as illustrated below:
Manchego quesadilla with pico de gallo. Basically a really good cheese toastie.
Fish tacos from the specials board. Soft and fresh, with a spritz of lime and dipped in sour cream.
Crispy chicken wings. A crunchy, nutty coating with smoky chipotle mayonnaise.
Mexican slaw, so fresh and zingy. Just look at those colours.
Hard shell taco with spiced beef. Very 90’s, but very good.
Pulled pork burrito. Savoury and moreish, with barbecue sauce and beans, and a tasty heritage tomato salsa on the side.
Classic crema catalana, smooth and unctuous.
Little Plates is open for lunch and dinner, Tuesday to Saturday, and Monday evenings in July and August. Book a table, or sit at the bar; order a little plate, and another, and another….
