POP ART AND PIZZA: THE PERFECT ANTIDOTE TO HEARTS AND FLOWERS
Milo – real name, Miles Atkinson – studied fashion illustration at Epsom School of Art, but decided to pursue a career in art, inspired by the growing urban and contemporary art scene in the capital.
Since that time his profile has been quietly rising, with his light-hearted, bright aesthetic capturing hearts worldwide. Currently living and working in North Cornwall, he cites his influences as Pop Art, Jeff Koons and Keith Haring, and early Hip Hop culture. Working across a wide range of media, his work playfully pokes fun at the contemporary street art scene. This is Milo’s first ever solo show.
SAY IT WITH CHEESE
If you’re packing up a picnic or preparing a romantic meal at home, don’t forget the cheese!
These gorgeous heart-shaped cheeses are available from Relish Food and Drink in Wadebridge.
Red wax-coated farmhouse Cheddar from Ford Farm, £3.75 each (200g) and Normandy Neufchatel Camembert style cheese £4.35 each.
For yarg-lovers, check out their heart-shaped truckle. Available from Lynher Dairies, £25.95 for a 900g cheese.
GET LOST IN A MAZE
Hidden from the outside world by shelter belts of woodland are the three valleys of Glendurgan Garden. Intended to be a piece of heaven on earth, this secret and special garden also gives a glorious glimpse down to the bright waters of the Helford River.
The subtropical garden is full of natural beauty and amazing plants: giant rhubarb in the jungle-like lower valley and spiky arid plants basking in the sunny upper slopes.
Explore the famous maze, whose cherry laurel hedges have seen over 175 years of family fun since Alfred and Sarah Fox planted them for the entertainment of their twelve children.
When your legs are weary, visit The Tea House for coffee and cake, tasty lunches or afternoon tea.
Open 10.30am – 5.30pm, £8 entry per person. For more information visit the National Trust website.
